Letter from your president

For over 75 years, the Vancouver Trojans have been an integral part of our community, dedicated to the sport Introducing the 2023 Vancouver Trojans!of football. As the landscape of football evolves, we too are embracing change, particularly with the recent inclusion of flag football in the Olympic games—an exciting development that has inspired us all.

Several years ago, I made the decision to transition our club from tackle to flag football, anticipating the growth and opportunities this sport would offer. However, this transition has not been without its challenges, particularly in coordinating with neighboring clubs and other football organizations. To address these challenges and better serve our community, I have spearheaded a new executive team and devised a comprehensive plan focused on providing quality flag football experiences for athletes in the Vancouver area.

I am thrilled to announce the launch of the first-ever Vancouver-only Flag Football League. This league will provide local athletes with the opportunity to compete and excel in flag football, with the chance to advance to the provincial flag football championships held in early July. Our dedicated executive team and volunteers will oversee the operation of two formats: 5-on-5 flag football for younger players in grades three through seven, and 7-on-7 for older players.

As we embark on this new chapter, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the elders who have nurtured the tradition of football in Vancouver over the years. I also want to express my appreciation to the parents and community members whose unwavering support has kept the spirit of community football alive.

With enthusiasm and determination, let us usher in a new era of flag football excellence. Go Trojans!
